WHAT:
Hi Girls! If you’ve been visiting the blog regularly, you know that we’ve been aiming for the stands with our swag-factor lately. Faux fur, sheer tops–these are NOT fashion statements for the meek. Well, today’s feature is no exception. As the truly nipply weather approaches, it’s time to start talking gloves: driving gloves, to be exact.
You’ve seen them on the paws of your favorite celebs from rockstar-status Rihanna to crazy Kanye (nevermind the 80 degree Los Angeles weather that he wore them in!). Well I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t matter whether you’re pushing a Maserati down the Audubon or you’re riding the Q train–musty, fat man to your left, a guitar-strumming mariachi band to your right–slip your hands into a pair of leather driving gloves and you’ll feel (and look!) like a bad mutha–shut yo’ mouth!
WHERE:
HOW:
If you want to go all the way with the bad-ass trend, you can pair these with a leather jacket. For a classier look, throw them on with a well-tailored wool coat or bomber jacket. Oh yeah- and don’t worry about matching the bolder hues with your outfit–remember that these are meant to be a statement piece.
EASY-LIVING TIP:
Have you ever noticed how some people just seem to reek of confidence? Much of this is in the way they carry themselves, and in particular, their body language. Your mom always told you to stand up straight, but what other things can you do (or avoid doing) in order to appear (and feel!) super confident? Here are seven quick suggestions that you can start using today:
1. Make eye contact, but don’t stare like a psycho. When someone is talking, hold their gaze most of the time, but for God’s sake–blink and look away every once in a while so they don’t think you’re a serial killer.
2. Don’t cross your arms (or you legs!). You’ve probably heard that crossing your arms makes you seem guarded. Well, crossing your legs does the same thing.
3. Don’t touch your face. It’s a tell-tale sign of being nervous and can distract whoever is speaking to you.
4. Don’t fidget. Tapping your foot on the ground, drumming your fingers–these are annoying, distracting habits that make you appear anxious.
5. Keep your chin up and your eyes away from the ground. The only time you should be looking down is when you’re dealing with steps. Facing the ground makes you look like a slouch.
6. Nod when people are speaking to you. This is the easiest way to show you’re listening and, more importantly, that you understand.
7. Don’t stand too close. Give others at least one and a half feet of “personal space” when speaking to them or you might put them off.
